  1. okay here is my comment: the show was awesome! i loved it. i have never seen either of these versions or read the book but I have seen the bollywood version "Bride and Prejudice" which was terrible/AMAZING so I kind of knew what you were talking about.

    anyway here are my questions/suggestions:
    1. is there anyway to get this on an ipod?
    2. is every podcast going to be something vs. something else to allow for greatest arguing potential?
    3. if that is not the case i would like to hear a podcast about jay's oscarfest this year and maybe how this year compares to oscarfests of the past?
    4. that's it i guess

Good job guys! can't wait for the next one

  3. I have not listened to your podcast in its entirety yet, but I have two issues with Miyo's commentary. I find it bit hard to take that you are upset that Focus Features changed the time period, when Benjamin Button did the same thing in relation to the time period the book/short story was set in. Can't have it both ways -- either it's wrong or it's acceptable artistic license. The other thing, which I could be wrong about, is that FF changed the time period to reflect the era the book was published in vs. when it was written. I thought that was a bit odd, and again, it could have been totally made up, but I heard it from a history major and they're usually trustworthy.

Otherwise, it was a thoroughly enjoyable podcast and it made me miss you oodles!

  4. So since I can't look at my paper anymore tonite I had a chance to listen to your oddcast. Very entertaining I have to say. First off I think it is darling that you guys are both talking about Pride and Prejudice, if I were to talk to Matt about something like that he would probably just say, "Yeah, my mom loves that movie" but nothing else and he would not want to talk about it anymore.

Second, I thought both of your arguments were well spoken. I agreed with a lot of your points. With yours Miyo, I definitely agree that the costumes in the movie version, Focus or whatever that the costumes were disappointing because even though I am not a costume expert I know what I have seen in other Jane Austen movies and am familiar with the time period of their clothing. I am absolutely in love with the empire waste dresses. I think that the costumes in Emma were much better, and I know this is sad but even when Wishbone did it's silly rendition of Pride and Prejudice that version's costumes were even better than the focus films costumes. Costumes are very important. You need to honor the genius who wrote the story! I bet Jane Austen was not happy with the costumes either- Misook

  5. Third, I agree with James in that for appealing to a wider audience they did a good job. I have never seen the BBC version but I know that a lot of people do not have time to sit and watch a 10 volume movie. I don't really like Kiera Knightly, I personally think that they could have chosen someone else.

Fourth- Miyo, wouldn't your stance on which version is better be biased because you read the book and James, since you didn't read it wouldn't your opinion change if you did read the book?

Thats all, I look forward to the next oddcast.

    miss ok
